Here are some general maintenance concerns to keep your pond looking nice.

Prevent algae from growing
    *Remove debris 
    *Remove dead plant matter
    *Keep fish feeding to a minimum (1 -2 times per week)
    *Use a good biological filter
Maintain good water circulation
    *water should circulate from one end of the pond to the other end once an hour
Do not have too many fish, they will produce a lot of waste
Maintain 60-70% plant coverage
    *blocks sun
    *absorbs nutrients that would feed algae
Fertilize plants regularly
Top off the water as needed
Test water quality such as pH, ammonia, nitrate and hardness monthly
